If you’re looking to grow your smart home, there’s no better time to do it than during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. To save you having an inbox full of deals, I’ve done it for you and in this guide, I’ve rounded up the very best deals from across the internet to help you save more money this holiday season.

Smart Speaker Black Friday Deals

Amazon Echo & Echo Show

Of course, Amazon are leading the pack when it comes to Black Friday deals, and their Echo (4th gen) smart speaker is one of the best bargains you can find with a 42% saving.

The Echo Show featuring Alexa was one of the first smart speakers and still boasts the largest range of compatible smart home devices. Plus, Alexa’s routines are ahead when it comes to scheduling your smart home automations.

If you opt for the Echo Show with a screen, you’ll have access to additional skills such as games, be able to video call other Echo Show users, see on-screen information such as recipes and the weather, or even watch Prime video.

Nest Audio and Nest Hub

It’s not just Amazon getting in on the action with Black Friday deals, you can head over to Currys for a discount on Google’s Nest Audio speaker and the Nest Hub smart display.

Whilst Alexa is better for automating your home, Google Assistant has its own advantages such as natural language understanding and answering your questions thanks to the world’s most powerful search engine at its heart.

The Nest Hub is similar to the Nest Audio but has a screen, think of it as Google’s answer to the Echo Show. Google Assistant is excellent when it comes to streaming entertainment around the home and the Nest Hub acts like a mini Chromecast screen for pulling up YouTube, Netflix, and other compatible apps.

Apple HomePod

And finally, Apple’s also getting in on the action, although with a much smaller discount than rivals Amazona and Google.

You can pick up their HomePod speaker with £10 off through Black Friday week over at Currys. This gives you access to Siri and will allow you to create automation to control all of your HomeKit devices.

Robot Vacuum Black Friday Deals

iRobot Roomba J7+

Roomba J7+: – View on iRobot

My favourite Black Friday deal on robot vacuums comes from iRobot. They have discounted their very latest robot vacuum, the Roomba J7+, by £100.

I featured this device as the top pick in this year’s guide to the best self-emptying robot vacuum cleaners. That’s because iRobot have upped their game by making use of AI to understand obstacles in your home and decide what to do with them. To show off this feature, they were very excited to share with us all how the J7+ can avoid pet poop rather than pushing it around the room.

In addition to the AI, the J7+ has an excellent cleaning performance thanks to iRobots patented dual rollers which create a strong vacuum and are undeterred by hairs. There’s lidar mapping for room-by-room cleaning and strong integration with Alexa and Google Assistant.

iRobot Roomba 976

Roomba 976: – View on iRobot

If you want a mid-range robot vacuum, iRobot are also offering a steep discount on their Roomba 976 vacuum which is down by a third from its regular price.

As you’d expect from a Roomba, the cleaning performance is well above-average for its price and it has the same dual rollers as the J7+ which are one of the top Roomba features for ensuring a good clean.

Unlike the J7+, there’s no self-emptying bin and it doesn’t have mapping so there’s no room-by-room cleaning. However, it does still take logical paths and has recharge-and-resume so it can remember where it stopped cleaning to top up on battery.

Eufy G30 Edge

Eufy G30 Edge: – View on Amazon

If you’ve seen my guide to the best budget robot vacuums, you’ll know that the Eufy G30 Edge has been my top pick for a while now.

Like the Roomba 976 above, it cleans your home in logical paths and provides clean maps in the companion app. However, it doesn’t have the same dual rollers as the Roomba so cleaning performance is slightly lower.

I would always recommend going for the G30 Edge instead of the G30 because it allows you to set no-go zones using the included magnetic tape.

Smart Lighting Black Friday Deals

Philips Hue

Outdoor Lights – View on Philips Hue

Hue Sync Box + 2 x Hue Play Lights: View on Philips Hue

Philips Hue is the most popular smart lighting brand and for good reason. They are super reliable so you’ll never run into any problems, plus they have a ton of excellent features such as Spotify integration and power-on behaviour which determines how they react after a power-cut.

They are also one of the few brands that work with all major ecosystems including Alexa, Google Assistant, HomeKit, and Smart Things. However, remember that you’ll need a bridge to use them as they run on Zigbee instead of Wi-Fi.

To celebrate Black Friday, Philips are offering 3 for 2 on a huge selection of indoor bulbs, 25% off outdoor lights, and some bundles when you buy their HDMI sync box with a Hue Play light.

Innr

Innr Colour B22: – View on Amazon

Innr White B22: – View on Amazon

If you’re on a tighter budget, I highly recommend Innr bulbs. These are also ZigBee bulbs so each one only needs to be in range of another bulb to work. I like that these are compatible with a Hue bridge so you can mix and match between the two brands.

They have a deal on both their colour and white bulbs.

Nanoleaf Shapes

15 Piece Shapes Starter Kit (Hexagon): – View on Nanoleaf

(other shapes also available – see more)

Nanoleaf light panels are a great way to add ambience to your home.

They have several Black Friday deals on their site, but my top pick is their Shapes starter kits in hexagons, triangles, or mini triangles. There’s an infinite number of ways you can put these together and they can be used interchangeably to create cool designs.

You can create wonderful light shows and they can sync with music or your PC screen (great for gamers) for an immersive experience.

If you need to learn more about the differences between the Nanoleaf products, see my full comparison table.

Video Doorbell Black Friday Deals

Ring

Ring Wired Doorbell + Echo Dot (3rd Gen): – View on Amazon

Ring Wired Doorbell + Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen): – View on Amazon

Ring Wired Doorbell + Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen): – View on Amazon

Although Ring are not offering any Black Friday deals on their top tier Ring 4 doorbell (let’s hope they launch a Cyber Monday deal), at the budget end of their range, there are plenty of great deals on the already affordable Ring Wired Doorbell including a 50% saving when you buy it with a 3rd gen Echo Dot.

It’s their most basic video doorbell and requires a wired installation, however, you’ll still benefit from many of their great features such as great integration with Alexa, fast alerts via the Rapid Ring app, and plenty of privacy settings such as privacy zones so you don’t intrude on the neighbours.

Arlo Video Doorbell

Arlo Essential Doorbell (Wireless): – View on Amazon

Arlo Video Doorbell (Wired): – View on Amazon

If you want a simpler life and need a battery-powered video doorbell, there’s a great Black Friday deal on Arlo’s video doorbell over on Amazon where you can save over £80.

I featured this doorbell in my guide to the best video doorbells in 2021 and with a saving like this, it’s a no-brainer. What’s unique about Arlo is that the doorbell calls your phone like a regular phone call when someone presses it, rather than popping up as a notification.

Other unique features include pre-recorded messages, parcel alerts, and a built-in siren. Keep in mind that you’ll need either a cloud subscription to store your recordings or an Arlo smart hub if you want to store them offline.

Eufy 2K Doorbell

Eufy 2K Doorbell with Chime: – View on Amazon

If you’re looking for a video doorbell without any ongoing costs, consider the Eufy video doorbell.

Unlike Ring devices which can only use cloud storage, Eufy use local storage which is either on the device (for wired devices) or on a companion hub inside your home (for battery-powered devices).

You can currently save 30% on their 2K battery-powered doorbell on Amazon and with no monthly commitments, what you see is what you get.

Other Smart Home Deals

Switchbot Curtain

All productsView on Switchbot

The Switchbot Curtain is a simple way to add smart functionality to your dumb curtains. Simply retrofit a Switchbot Curtain to each curtain and you can add voice control or schedule them to open automatically each day and let the light flood into your home.

There’s a slightly different product depending upon whether you have I-rails, U-rails, or a traditional rod so ensure you select the correct one.

Switchbot have an interesting approach to Black Friday with a ‘spin-to-win’ deal. Spin the wheel at checkout and you’ll get between 30-50% discount on all Switchbot products.

Withings Body+ Smart Scale

View on Amazon

I featured the Withings + Body in my guide to the best smart devices for your bathroom. It connects to the internet and syncs with the mobile app to give you handy graphs to track your weight and body composition (e.g. body fat, muscle mass, etc). If you’re an Alexa user, you can also ask Alexa for your latest weight or how much fat you’ve lost.

Yale Sync Smart Alarm System

10 Piece Starter Kit: – View on Currys

Yale’s smart home alarm system is my favourite security system that can be self-installed and monitored so you can save on any ongoing professional costs.

Their 10 piece kit is currently on a Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal over on Curry’s where you can save £69. Included with the kit is a hub, siren, dummy siren, 2 motion detectors, 2 door sensors, keypad, a smart plug, and a PIR motion sensor.

The system fully integrates with Alexa for easy monitoring whilst at home and away. I love that it can easily be expanded with add-on products making it very futureproof.

Tile

View on Amazon

Tile is a GPS tracker, similar to Apple’s Airtags, however, anyone can use them no matter which phone you have. They are great for attaching to keys, bags, wallets, or even your pet so that you can locate them when you need to.

When you need to find your device, just open the Tile app and it will give you a map with the last known position of the item.

Eero 6 Mesh Wi-Fi Router

Eero 6 3-Pack: – View on Amazon

My final Black Friday smart home deal is a mesh router from Amazon. A mesh system uses Wi-Fi points throughout your home to improve coverage and reduce dead spots which is essential if you have lots of smart home devices.

Amazon has some good deals on all of their Eero routers, but make sure you get the Eero 6 to make use of the latest Wi-Fi technology and ensure a future proof home.

But what makes Eero even better is that it doubles up as a Zigbee hub, expanding your smart home coverage too.

I have been building up my smart home since 2016 so I'm a bit of a smart home expert by now. On this blog, I share my favourite smart home devices that I've tested along with tips and tricks I learn by watching countless YouTube videos, scrolling through forums, and tinkering around with my own smart devices. I've always been a Google Home user but I'm starting to think Alexa might have the edge, what do you think?
